Underneath the Stars Festival is a fresh new summer festival of music, arts and food. It is a collaboration between Barnsley folk singer-songwriter Kate Rusby, her family production team and one of the finest Yorkshire visitor attractions and quality food producer Cannon Hall Open Farm run by the Nicholson Family.
The idea stems from a series of concerts held on previous years at the farm to raise funds for local projects such as the village Cricket Club, Church and Preschool. Now the aim is to develop those concerts into a weekend of world class entertainment in the heart of South Yorkshire, held in a purpose built big-top concert marquee and for the first time this year there will be the opportunity to pitch up and stay at the festival campsite.
Cannon Hall Open Farm is one of the regions finest visitors attractions. Offering visitors and school outings an illuminating and educational insight into the day to day workings of a modern farmyard. Activities include, milking demonstrations, a rare breeds barn, small-animal petting, animal feeding, tractors, farm machinery as well as an incredible new adventure playground. The farm shop and delicatessen stock a mouth watering array of gastronomic delights including the farm’s home produced Beef, Pork and Lamb which has been a finalist twice in the White Rose Awards “ Taste of Yorkshire” competition.
Guests of Underneath the Stars Festival can expect an unforgettable weekend of entertainment whether they are a seasoned festival goer or a complete newcomer. Underneath the Stars Festival is committed to providing the best facilities available (banish all thoughts of queuing for blocked plastic portaloos, damp outdoor stages, soggy chips, and sour beer) at a fantastic location for an audience to enjoy the music and magical atmosphere of a great cultural event.
