St Albans Folk Music - New Roots

St Albans Folk Music organises pub sessions, workshops, concerts and an annual 'New roots' events for young musicians.

It is a part of the 'Folk at the Festival' Committee which organises the St Albans Folk Festival, a small participatory festival in St Albans City Centre, with a Day of Dance, free performances, sessions and singarounds in City Centre pubs and workshops and a festival concert in the Maltings Arts Theatre. In 2017, the festival will be on the Albans weekend, with the main events on Satirday June 24 and singarounds and sessions on Sunday June 25.

New Roots is an event for young musicians. If you are under 25 and play folk, roots or traditional music, we would like to hear from you. The closing date is January. The finals of New Roots will be at Trestle Arts Base, St Albans. In 2-017, they will be on Sunday April 2. There is no overall winner Performers selected for the final will get feedback from a panel of jidges and performance opportunities at festivals, folk clubs and other events. For further details, click here .
