I am a mum, a wife, and a musician with a local Morris side. I used to work, and teach, in health and social care.
My enthusiasm and passion for creating space for families to play and make their own crafty creations together, comes from having 2 inquisitive children of my own (who always wanted to be doing something) and working. It is, as most families know, quite tricky to find time to do things together and Moira Canal Festival seemed a good place to start Emma's Crafty Kids.
I developed and have run Emma's Crafty Kids at the Moira Canal Festival, on the North West Leicestershire / South Derbyshire border, on a voluntary basis since 2007. I started off with 3 small tables and now have a large marquee, teeny weeny 'chill-out' area, lots of outdoor activities and drop-in crafts. After much positive encouragement by families using the marquee at the festival about the need for craft activities in the local area, I decided to develop Emma's Crafty Kids into a business that other events and schools could access.
By taking Emma’s Crafty Kids to different events, it not only provides space for children, their families and carers to use their imaginations to create different crafts, play and be active together, but also encourage the use of recycling in creative activities. Lots of different materials have been donated by local businesses for children to use in their creations.
Emma's Crafty Kids has full Public Liability Insurance with Morton Michel. I also have a current enhanced DBS check.
